Hi,

I have bought a new PC a while ago. It's an i7 9700K with Noctua NH-D15 cooler and Fractal Design Define R6 case.

When I let the CPU turboboost itself to 4.6 GHz, I am getting around 70C under highest load. When I try to overclock it, I am getting 80C - 80C at 4.9 GHz.

I don't have that high knowledge of cooling, but these temperatures feel too high when considering what kind of a cooler I have. Or is this normal? I have bought 2x 120mm case fans and mounted them into the top of the case to blow the air out more, and yes, there was a slight difference, but not that big to make it matter.

What do you think?

Those seems fairly normal. But there could be alot of factors affecting your temps.

What voltage are you running at 4.9?

What's your case configuration? Open layout or server layout? Do you have the too panel on or off?

If I was going air cooled in my R6 I would do open layout with the top panel on and 3 fans up front with 1 at the rear. Straight shot through the case front to back. I do tend to run with the front door open as well to help with flow.

If I remember correctly, I was running at 1.350 Volts. I have the top panel off, and two 120mm Fans blowing the air out of the case.

I have two stock Fractal Design fans in the front, and one stock Fractal Design fan in the back. Basically I am running with the fans which came with the case, and two extra at the top.
