are TN panels best for gaming? if so what would come in as the closest second as i like to watch movies as well but no audiences so im not to worried about viewing angle but a good viewing angle would be nice to have but not the first thing id be looking for in a monitor

Solution
Well they used to be and still are to some extent depending on the paticular TN panel the fastest panels in terms of input lag and response times. However good IPS and VA panels get very close nowadays and have better viewing angles, color accuracy, and contrast levels than TN.

I use an asus pg279q IPS monitor and I think it is excellent for gaming. However it is not cheap.

IPS is good except the fact that they mostly suck in refresh rate and response time which are primary requirements for eSports games. If you are not much into eSports, then you will not find a major difference, although there will be some difference with TN.

i agree!!!!!!

the op should check out pg279q(IPS) vs pg278qr(TN) just for reference

i have the TN ....
