Question Will Bottleneck effectively?

My current PC configuration:
Ryzen 5 5600x
Radeon RX 5600 XT
8 x 2 gb 3200 mhz
SSD gen 3
550 watt PSU

I've been thinking to upgrade my PC GPU which have AM4 socket. Right now cant afford to upgrade MOBO and CPU
So i want upgrade GPU only. So question is ,will 5060 or 5060 ti bottleneck 5600x or alternately i go for 9060 xt? Or even 9060 Xt still gonna bottleneck?

Would need motherboard details to give a proper answer. PCIe 3.0 would be somewhat of a limit for newer 8x only cards.

Doesn't really matter though, if the long term plan is to upgrade the platform then there is no issue with sticking in a faster card. It will still let you run higher FPS or higher settings. If the CPU is already holding you back, that won't change.

That said, exact motherboard and exact PSU would be helpful. 9060 XT and 5060 Ti are fairly low power, but it never hurts to review all your hardware before an upgrade.

You are indeed limited to PCIe 3.0 with that board.

New cards are PCIe 5.0 8x, which means they will be PCIe 3.0 8x on your system. 8 GT/s vs 32 GT/s. You will have a small drop in performance from that alone, but anytime the system exceeds VRAM capacity or does something like streamed decompress of textures (common in modern titles to cut down storage space) it may be slower than it otherwise would be. Might see pop-in of textures and the like.

If you get the 16GB versions of those cards you should do better overall.

I’d suggest checking tech powerup for the specs.
For example a 9060xt is 16 pci lanes and wouldn’t be crippled as much as an 8 lane card at pcie 3 though performance for both would be reduced with reference to pcie 5.

On YouTube HUB posted a good comparison for the 9060XT - 8 and 16GB models over pcie 3 to 5. Worth watching.

I would just get the RX 9060 XT 16GB and only lose about 5-8% performance on your PCIe 3.0 system compared to the x8 cards. Hardware unboxed has recent videos on their youtube channel showing the performance loss of using the latest x8 PCIe 5.0 nvidia cards.

You would need to upgrade to a B550 or X570 motherboard to get PCIe 4.0 support on the top x16 slot to avoid the major performance pentalies of using an x8 5.0 card on a 3.0 slot.

Others are cpu core speed limited like strategy, sims, and mmo.
Multiplayer tends to like many threads.

To see which upgrade would be more effective, run this test:

Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

If you upgrade the graphics, you will also need to upgrade the psu. 550w is not enough.

The only cpu upgrade that might be effective without a motherboard change might be from the 12 thread 5600x to a 16 thread 5700x if your primary use was multiplayer games.

With new gen processors rumored to be imminent, I would be reluctant to change any cpu if buying new, not used

You may be confusing the RX 9070 XT TDP with the 9060 XT, because even a RX 9070 with 220watt TDP would be fine on a decent quality 550 watt (recommended) PSU . The RX 9060 XT has a 160 watt TDP and recommended 450 watt PSU, and the RX 5600 XT has a 150 watt TDP. The OP would only need to consider a PSU upgrade if they get a 105w TDP CPU for an upgrade, and even then, as long as they have a decent quality 550 watt unit, it should still handle it fine.

Ah so it is. I hadn't been paying much attention. Then it is by far the better choice for a PCIe 3.0 system.
