"Are you sure you want to leave this page?" dialog keeps popping up

I don't use Internet Explorer but yet I get a random popup every few minutes asking me if I want to leave the page. Screenshot included.

Is this a virus? How do I remove that?

Have you tried checking the box that says "Don't let this page create more messages"?

If so, check task manager to see if Internet Explorer is running in the background and force close it if it is.

I would also try clearing all of IE's data (cache, temp folder)

I think it's a virus... I trusted Microsoft's Windows Defender but I guess it's trash.

The reason Windows Defender did not notice it was because this "virus" looks like a normal program (or file, still don't know for sure)

Can you go to Programs and Features section in Control Panel and then filter the programs by install date? If you see any programs that were installed recently that you do not recognize, uninstall them.

Also, make sure your IE homepage is not set to a site you don't recognize.

Wow, surprised Defender did see that... Microsoft needs to step up their game haha.
