So, I want to play ARK with friends on the Xbox while I run a pc. I know that it’s possibles through the windows 10 store (first I have to upgrade to windows 10 from 8.1, I know I hate windows 8 too). ARK is an expensive game (£50) and on kinguin I can get it for £34 as a steam key, however to play with friends I need the Windows 10 version from the store. I know that play anywhere works with both pc and Xbox so I’m wondering if I can buy a disk for ARK, put it in my friends Xbox One and get it for my Microsoft account that doesn’t have live, then download it for my pc via play anywhere. Is this possible?
If not then my other option is for my friend to do family sharing for something but I doubt we’d be allowed to play together because we'd have the same characters? I don’t really know. I just wanna get ARK cheaper as £50 is a lot of money and I’m saving up for a GTX 1060 6GB ROG and a bigger case (upgrade from my 750 ti 4gb edition and Fractal Core 1000)
Please help ASAP!
Thanks very much.

You would have to buy it on a new shared account, that way both of you could play it from the same account after downloading it one on xbox one on PC but I doubt they would let you connect and play at the same time.

(Also ark is >100Gb so keep that in mind as well)

How do you make his existing account shared with mine? Can you do family sharing Xbox One to PC and also on different wifi networks?

I have done family sharing from Xbox to windows 10 and it works! We can play together! In fact, I even added one of my other pc friends so now there’s 3 of us all sharing the same ARK game but on different accounts! We’re all on the same server playing together. It feels like I’ve just found a MASSIVE loop hole in Microsoft’s system. :)
