Ark:survival evolved looks horrible

I'm trying to play ark survival evolved On my gaming laptop but the rendering is horrible it just looks horrible while it has super high fps it looks unplayable because of the graphics me and my brother and having the same problem with the same rig I just have more GB Ram If anyone has any solutions or my rig just give me an answer I was really looking forward to playing this :/

Hi,

What cpu, gpu are you using and how much ram?
Have you changed the resolution settings in the options of the game? Sometimes it defaults lower. Have you changed the settings in the game

I have 16 Gb ram I have a Geforce Gtx 860M I have a i-7-4720, and my default res on my pc is 1920x1080 but when I started playing I had my default res but when I fisrst opened the game the res was 1600x something if I try lowering and It doesn't work i'll be pissed I got the game off of g2a and you cant refund steam gifts or keys

EDIT:i tried lowering the res still did not work :/

I modified the games config files, which allowed me to get way more FPS, the reason why my game didnt look good (Tree's, Hatch walls, and no Dynamic Lighting) was because I modified the files, which lowered the texture res's for trees etc. So I deleted, them and ran my game again and now it looks great! (Does obvioulsy lag more 15-25fps | medium-High Settings)


In this file directory, I deleted the Engine.ini and the GameUserSettings.ini <> This gave me the graphics that I was looking for and what everyone else is getting!

G:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor



For you Nvidia people...

Stop been so childish, some people don't have money to waste on Titan x's that are a load of crap, to me Ive got what I want out of card! Plus, AMD cards could easily beat some Nvidia cards in game performance, it depends whether the devlopers a willing to optimize the game!

I've got most of my settings on high/epic and my game just looks terrible, tree's look bad, game is really dark, textures arn't the best. Why is this?

The torch and fire don't seem to light up the area either please help!...

I have Intel I5 4460
R7 265 << Up-To-Date Drivers BETA 14.6
8GB DDR3

But, you modified the files to begin with? That wasn't the answer I was looking for

It wasn't me who wrote that but what I mean is - maybe your config file has messed up or error'd in some way as you are having the same issues as him. Try his fix (basically remove the config) and let the game create a new one by loading up the game

An 860m isn't very powerful, and ARK is a very hard to run game.

I'm not sure you can run it on anything beyond low.
