Afternoon all,

My friend and I are having an annoying issue with Arma 3. I am running it with everything on low settings and still only just touching 30 fps when on a life server. I can run BF1 with everything on Ultra and clock 120fps.

---My Specs---
CPU : AMD-FX 6300 @ 3.5ghz
GPU : GTX 1060 Overclocked Windforce
RAM : 16gb DDR3 Hyper-X (x2 8gb)
MB : GA-79LMT
HDD : 1.5tb Toshiba Hard Disk Drive
PSU : 650w EVGA Gold

Any help to fix FPS issues will be great.

*NOTE - to my understanding Arma 3 is poorly optimized or the server maybe bad.*

ArmA III is one of the most hardware-intensive games ever made, simply due to the crazy number of things that all happen simultaneously and continuously in the game world. Add to that the fact that Tanoa, the newest map, is almost twice as big as any official map from ArmA II or ArmA, and unless you build an actual supercomputer your computer is going to lag.

Arma 3 is an incredibly intensive game. The game is also really weird about multiplayer games in that it's almost up to the server how well the game will perform. I'm running an I5 4670k and an nvidia 1070 and I get around the same fps on multiplayer servers. Sadly, it seems to be an optimization issue. You're not doing anything wrong.

Oh man, I just remembered the last time I played it with a friend...we were messing around with that new train sim mod, and we ran a train that was over a hundred cars...it literally moved forward in giant leaps, and followed curves in sections. Like instead of each car following the curve, sections of the train would draw a line between two points on the curve...it was hilarious. The most amazing part was that while yes, the train was obviously lagging in its path detection, the actual forward movement was completely smooth for both me and my friend (he was hosting).

I have quite a few systems; and even in single player ArmA 3 suffers massive FPS drops, especially if you have more than3-5 ai squads engaging. The game hardly uses my GPUs and FPS on a lower end system can often match a higher end system for some insane reason. All the tweaks like setting priority; unparking cores etc, have 0 impact. I can get the same fps @7680x1440p as I get @2560x 1440. Which makes 0 sense.

I could benchmark and prove but I've got better thing to do ngl..
