My monitor is a VIOTEK GN27C2 27” 144Hz, and recently I've noticed a strange artifact/error on my screen. It shows up most on white/gray backgrounds, but disappears when I put my cursor over it... leading me to believe it isn't a dead area and just some sort of software issue. I've never seen something like this before, and the mark has stayed there through several restarts and shutdowns, so I'm not sure what's happening. I've linked two photos where I tried to visually explain this the best I can, the first being the cursor on top of the dead pixel, showing that the monitor can show that shade of white without issue, and the second one shows when anything other than the cursor is there; it's a small black dot with a gray field around it.
