Is there a way to know if your keyboard uses standard ascii protocol? I tried looking at the keyboard manufacturers website and can’t figure out if it does or not, if it helps it’s a k66 riitek

Maybe you should explain what you are trying to do or what the problem is,usually you select the protocol in the software you use to input text.

The text input protocol is managed/applied by the OS or related software, it's not a function of the keyboard itself so you're trying to find info that's got nothing to do with the keyboard manufacturer.

I asked because I bought a keyboard and mouse adapter from iogear and on their forums the moderator was telling people that the adapter wouldn’t read some keyboards if the keyboard doesn’t use ascii protocol, I tried looking it up and there was nothing and the guy on their forum is very basic with his answers so I came here, if it helps he also said “direct Chinese imported keyboards/mice typically don’t use the standard ascii protocol”

Keyboard adapters are notoriously unreliable as many of them are wired up differently inside so they don't match how the keyboard plug is wired up -- hence they don't work. Much better to use a keyboard that has the correct plug to start with (ie native USB or PS/2 depending on your PC ports).
