why in the phuck do you want to overclock a laptop.....if you want more performance just get a desktop....stupidity boggles my mind, also it's more expensive, i would recommend something like a very efficient peltier type of cooling

[citation][nom]Argiestein[/nom]I have the R1 M18x, and it does run quite hot, 2920XM is able to get 4.4GHz on air for a good boost, 4.0GHz constant. this would be a welcome addition to help cool it down.sidenote: battery life isn't as bad as you think, plugged in with discrete enabled it's about 2hrs, on integrated it's around 5hrs... although everything does underclock itself, but still not bad for a 20lb monstrosity.[/citation]
4GHZ constant on all for cores @ 100% utilization? Sweet rig

Overclocking is a good way to increase longevity of a laptop. For instance, I bought an Asus G50VT laptop a few years ago and just now I ordered an X9100 extreme chip for $106 shipped and I'll overclock to 3.6GHZ and then I'll keep it for another 5 years or more.
It came with a 2.53GHZ chip

EDIT: Well maybe longevity is the wrong word, who know how long the AC adapter and voltage regulators will last with me running seti@Home on that X9100 24/7.
The phrase I meant to use was "increase the useful life"

Great deal!

Desktop might be your choice but someone of us can afford to go on monthly vacations and I for one love taking my m18x r2 Alienware with me to still game, no way i could do that with a desktop. I can not wait for Alienware to start offering this cooling system they will have another LARGE sale from me thats for sure and my old m18x which is still new right now but by the time the cooling system is offered it will be old will be handed down to a family member.
M18X R2 | 3rd gen i7-3820qm 8mb cache | 16gb ram 1600mhz | duel nvidia gtx 675m each overclocked.
