I have a new intel setup prior to my AMD setup.

Intel 5820k 3.3GB
Corsiar LPX 16GB 3200MHz
Nvidia gigabyte 970 G1 4GB
Samsung pro 970 M.2 SSD

Im trying to play GRID on my old setup settings witch was at 5760x1080 on a perfect ratio.

I had the CD version for years and had to reformat twice on my last setup, but had figured out the ratio in a XML file. But forgot what I did or where I even found the solution.

This is the rez I'm currently stuck at now.

The game is unplayable on triplehead with this aspect ratio. So last night I thought buying the steam version would fix this. But when I tried enabling higher resolution on the steam version, the game throws a error code 80 on me when it restarts to set the rez. And now it won't start period. So atm I am reinstalling it.

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated, as I just bought a full new driving setup for this game. I've been at this for two weeks currently no avail messing with XML settings.

Baseline (Widescreen) Solution & Issues
Native.

There is a setting to select the screen aspect ratio. The default setting is "Normal", an auto mode that always follows the current resolution's AR.
Selecting a specific ratio will stretch the screen to match the selection. Ratios available: 4:3, 5:4, 16:10, 16:9, 5:3.

An important thing to note is that the game does not support resolutions above 1440x900 and 1280x1024 if a graphic card with less than 512mb is detected. The game might incorrectly detect the amount of vram when using newer graphics cards, which will lock you out of using higher resolutions. Follow these steps to solve this problem:

1) Look for your hardware_settings_restrictions.xml file in your 'system' folder (default for steam version: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\grid\system\), and make a backup.

2) Open the file with Notepad. Scroll down to the bottom, remove the following entry and save the file:

data
res mem="270" maxWidth="1280"
/data

The restriction is now gone and you can play the game at your native resolution.

I already did years ago plus lastnight. Never found a solution from the guy responding, but found it out somehow but I don't remember.

I posted on codemaster too 3 times by 4 years apart and they never gave me a solution, but I see guys playing this in 2016 in 5760x1080 resolution but they never tell us in the description how ro what they did. Data line delelte does not work on steam for me. It won't even start. Even posted on steam and grid forums, but this is just crazy as I had this rez twice b4. The game will work and can work on this rez but the aspect ratio is what had me o holdup b4. So I bought the steam version and that can't even run the resolution....

People have reported this method works, so I'm not sure.

I have seen reports that if you have bezel correction enabled in nvidia control panel, this will cause the game to crash. Maybe try turning off bezel correction (if you havent already) and try again?

If delete the xml and verify your steam cache. Then try again. maybe you accidentally fat fingered something.

It seems that bezel was already off. I play other games and I know that the bezel was never on. I really never use it anyway. But I reinstalled and the game works as suspected knowing it would create a new XML in documents and system folders. I always delete the documents b4 reinstalling so its always fresh.

But The setting don't even show anything higher then just 1 monitor. So no 5760x1080 resolution. But I know if i remove the data line, witch gives me the option to enable higher rez. But That is what crashed my game b4 and had to reinstall.

I'm currently looking at my other post for a response towards this glitch. I though there was a patch called 1.3 but the patch don't even see the game install, and I have the CD copy and the steam version.

Solved.

One last try;

Delete again both files in your documents, and try to increase both the resolution and the memory from "hardware_settings_restrictions.xml"

<data>
<res mem="4096" maxWidth="7000" />
</data>

Also switch back to multiple monitors, then back to Surround, but don't create any customs resolution, just to try if this isolate the problem.
