Hi guys, I'm currently building a cheap/budget gaming computer for my girlfriend. Since the socket is a 775, I'll mod it so it can use a 771 socket CPU. But my problem is that the board only supports 2Gb of ram, which is unrealistic for games these days. She plays a lot of Fortnite and Counter-Strike : GO, etc. Of course 2Gb is not enough if she wants a stable experience. I really hope some of y'all genius knows if I can use more ram lol Ty.

Ok that board is way way to old. the socket 771 will not work due to the old chip set that will only work up to Pentium D and the chip set will not allow over 2 gb do to limitation of the chip set. I would go get another lga 775 mother board like this...

Ok that board is way way to old. the socket 771 will not work due to the old chip set that will only work up to Pentium D and the chip set will not allow over 2 gb do to limitation of the chip set. I would go get another lga 775 mother board like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/Gigabyte-GA-G41M-ES2L-LGA-775-Mainboard-DDR2-8GB-For-Intel-Micro-ATX-Motherboard/263530448975?epid=74085756&hash=item3d5ba3884f:g:VScAAOSwI39am3oO it will support a core 2 quad and maybe a lga 771 mod and but the down side it has only 2 ddr2 dims so you will need to buy a special 4gb ddr2 dim since most ddr2 only go up to 2gb on a single stick.

And to be honest I would just build her a lga 1150 system it would be worth while it may cost a little more but you would want to give her something that she can use for like 5 years and more. because I still own a core 2 quad system and they are getting less and less powerful now. and compare that to my lga 1150 system core i3 with hd 4400 intel graphics I was able to play gta V with 30 fps on onbaord graphics and that computer was a lenovo M75 sff. lga 1150 getting cheaper and cheaper now. Here a good lga 1150 board https://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-B85-IE35-Motherboard-VGA-DVI-LGA1150-with-I-O-shield-surport-I3-I5-I7/232583830377?epid=19007349757&hash=item3627139b69:g:88IAAOSwtnpaI3eY used and here the i3 I had https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-i3-4130-3-4GHz-CPU-Socket-FCLGA1150-4th-Generation-Intel-Processor/142729054021?hash=item213b508745:g:jHoAAOSw37BaXpTj used and it worth the price this will last her 10 times longer than the lga 775 system and the ram can go up to 16 gb of ddr3
