Here's an oldie ,
I bought an old fx system from some guy for cheap .The system didn't come with an hdd , so I put my in and hit start :)
First off a blue screen popped up with the text "resume from hibernation" and was loading for about 30min. before I hit restart.
After that I got stuck on the asrock logo and will not go any further , can't go into bios .
Fans are spinning normaly ,no beep ,keybord light is on but nonresponsive
Tried all the components separately all work except the MB .Tried clearing the cmos ,changeling the battery , tried with and withouth the hdd , same result ...
Did anybody have these issues , and will an external bios flash help ?

I removed the cable from the psu ,drained the power , changed the jumper , removed the battery , left it for about 30min. ,put the jumper back , put in new battery and then started the system again .

Bizarre that the BIOS would get messed up from that. So when its on the ASRock logo no matter what you press it won't access the BIOS? DO you see any red lights on the motherboard when that happens?

Can you post the specs of all the components as well.

don't see any light on the board , but I dont belive it has any LED's on it
the system is running a fx 8320 with a Thermaltake contac 21 cooler
2x ddr3 4gb 1600mhz ,
saphire r9 270
500gb hdd (7200rpm)
500w generic PSU (can run the system , works with others , usualy only for testing )

Ok , found what I believe is the culprit .So its not the vrm-s that are getting hot , but rather the heat is coming from a chip below them , the chip is hot even with the system down indicating a short .Luckily it seems to be still available ,the chip is a realtek rtl8111e and it is a gigabit ethernet controller chip (of all the things to go wrong :)) .
Ill try to get a replacement , don't know if changing it out will fix the issue , but I'm planning to flash the bios as well (just in case).
So the problem seem to be hardware related , witch means there's a higher chance that there's no fixing it .
Will update after attempted resurrection

A bad ethernet controller is not going to prevent you from entering the BIOS. I would highly suggest not trying to replace that chip, unless you're very experienced you'll probably damage the board.

Flashing the BIOS is not a bad idea, that has the best chance of working for you.

As for trying to boot Windows off an old drive, that rarely works properly. You need a fresh install anyway.

the chip itself is not that hard to replace with a heat gun , ive done simular things before . My consern is that the problem is not the chip , but is coming from somewhere on the south bridge , if that's the case the board is scrap . Also I have to remove the chip before trying anything else as it is heating up the board substantially ,witch is causing the surrounding components (including the VRM-s) to overheat ,witch could (if I'm lucky) be the cause of the problem .
Anyway this will take time as the part is coming from china , will try to update the bios in the meantime.
Will update the post when all is said and done.

the chip itself is not , but the heat might .I've checked for continuity around the chip and on the south bridge , as well as randomly on the board did not find anything blown , don't know what the problem could be other then the chip itself .

Yeah I don't think you're going to get that online anywhere. ASRock may be willing to provide it.

ill try and ask ,dont think theyll give it to me though :)
anyway probably gonna get a replacement board , get the system running in the meantime, gonna treat this as a side project from now .
