Asrock Bios Freeze

Hello. I have an asrock z77 extreme3 motherboard. I recently installed it and until recently it was doing fine. After I installed and aftermarket CPU cooler and a sandisk 128 gb extreme ii ssd, the bios stopped working. To clarify, the computer still boots up and works fine, but when I press f2 to access the bios functions, the damn thing freezes and some static bar appears at the top of the monitor.

Possibly noteworthy?
I taped the SSD into the drive bay because I'm lazy (cannot see this being a problem)
My optical drive seems not to be working, though it should be plugged in
I once pressed the power button on the computer while the 24 pin connector was unplugged.
I may have handled the mobo a little roughly while I was installing that cooler, but I didn't see any damage. It wasn't that rough. Although I did press the bottom of it with my hands pretty hard.

Try resetting the CMOS. If that doesn't solve your problem, assuming you can boot into Windows, update the bios to the latest, stable version in Windows.

Download the version 1.50 which is labeled Windows under "Update BIOS Under."

Try resetting the CMOS. If that doesn't solve your problem, assuming you can boot into Windows, update the bios to the latest, stable version in Windows.

I tried resetting the bios. That seemed to fix, but coincidentally, I removed one of my GPUs (to access the cmos switch), but when I put it back in, the problem returned.

I can still access windows just fine, though.
