Now the Fatal1ty killer is known to be a good performer, but the H97 performance version seems to be a bit more in a mixed situation? Would you add 10-15 dollars for a better motherboard, or is this one actually a good motherboard?

I prefer one with a good audio chip, this one has purity sound with the ALC 1150 codec.

Alternative options:

MSI H97 Gaming 3
Gigabyte GA-H97-Gaming 3
Gigabyte H97 G1.Sniper H6

I have that motherboard in my main system (i5-4590 and 8GB of memory). Anything specific you want to know about it? I chose it for the Intel NIC that I prefer over the Killer NIC and so far it's been as stable as the Gigabyte Z97X-SLI (also an Intel NIC) in my son's PC. Both use the ALC 1150 codec.

Thank you. Im not sure if you really can but from the top of your head, could you name the benfits and cons of the following boards:

ASRock Fatal1ty H97 Performance
MSI H97 Gaming 3
Gigabyte GA-H97-Gaming 3
Gigabyte H97 G1.Sniper H6

Or is there no significiant difference between all of them. They all cost pretty much the same. Thanks by the way, I will take the XFX TS in mind.

My database is mainly for Z97 motherboards . The good mothers of MSI/Gigabyte are usually more expensive . H97 Performance is a top model of Asrock , so I could count on it . Btw , the CPU is not overclockable , so even Asrock H97 Pro4 , would be enough - 4 phase power design .

The slightly more expensive motherboards than the ASRock H97 Pro4 have better audio chips. The Fatal1ty H97 Performance has the purity sound system, not sure how good this is. I'd prefer a motherboard with the ALC 1150 codec in there.

The Purity sound system uses the ALC 1150 codec with some improvements: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20H97%20Performance/
