Asrock Hyper can overclock non K i7-6700. But the CPU will always run at 3.8Ghz, how to make its clock speed lower when idle?

Main: Asrock H170 Pro4/Hyper
CPU: i7-6700 non K

Using Asrock automatic overclock setiing, my CPU would run at 3.8Ghz even when idle. How to make the CPU run at high clock speed only when neccessary after being overclocked?

pretty much, this is why most people stay away from BCLK ocing. though the asrock B150m pro4/hyper is a good motherboard, the cpu always running at 3.8 GHz will only increase power consumption and not decrease the lifespan. what voltage have you set for the cores? im sure that you can overclock the i7 6700 a lot more. how much of an oc did you apply?
