I have been running a Ryzen 7 2700 CPU for a couple of years and wanted to install a Ryzen 9 5900x. I updated the BIOS and the chipset drivers but the PC won't boot with the new CPU. The CPU and RAM lights on the motherboard stay on and then about every 20 seconds it tries to boot again.

Since the BIOS is updated is there something else I need to do?

Asrock's can have complicated BIOS update process when there's a big gap between versions. Did you follow that? especially with updating any "bridge BIOS" in sequence?

If you can put the 2700 back in you might repeat the update catching every BIOS rev in sequence just to be sure.
I didn't see that in their documentation. I'm not sure what version I was on before I updated so do you recommend I downgrade a few versions and upgrade again with each version?
