Question Asrock z790 PG Lightning

Hi All,am i being an idiot? i bought the above mobo and installed a (gen4) samsung 990pro into nvme slot M2_1 (gen4)
yet when i look at samsung magician is says its running at gen 3, i moved the nvme out of curiosity to the M2_4 but it still gives the same result any ideas?

All of he M.2 slots will go up to PCIe4.0x4 speeds. What BIOS version are you currently on for your motherboard? If you have BIOS updates pending, update to the latest version, then clear the CMOS and see if the issue persists.

Hi Lutfij, i was on bios 4.07 as default as the motherboard arrived,but i updated last night to the latest 6.08? it is still behaving the same (gen 3) dont know if there is a setting somewhere in the bios,tbh i thought it would pick it up automatic

Are there any updates showing in Magician, maybe a firmware update? Have you tried using another program to see if it shows as Gen 3 there as well?

Hi,yeah it was in magician where i noticed it,there are no firmware/updates available,i checked through crystaldiscinfo,and it also says transfer mode PCIe 3.0 x4 | PCIe 3.0 x4, nvm Express 1.4 firmware VC2S038E
