this is what i've been waiting for. exactly why i never got a netbook or nettop yet ( did try out quite a few in the last year or so but was never happy with any power or performance provided)
but too build one or two htpc either platform 1 or 2 look good

And I was so looking forward to Zacate to replace my Atom 330 board (paired with a HD5450 discrete... Ion just didn't do it for me).
I got a low power system as a htpc setup, but ever since I got it (esp after I added the discrete card and overclocked the atom to 2,1 Ghz) I hardly touch my main desktop anymore. It even played my most demmanding game, Dragon Age: Origins, in that setup.
As an experiment, I took the HD4670 from my desktop and stuck in my htpc. lol! the same power draw under load as my main desktop in idle! (< 70 - 80 W-ish>)And DA:O playable in high details with no probs! Well, one, but I'm blaming the IOE cpu for that. (when crowded, abilities take longer to do what they do... The game doesn't stutter, commands just aren't done, not right away at least.)
I tried playing at stock clocks (1,6Ghz) and the result was dismal.
Now, to imagine Zacate E-350 has next to no overclock ability makes me want to hang on to my atom-gone-nuclear at 2,1 Ghz just a bit longer --
Who knows, maybe a 20 / 25W tdp Sabine platform might do the trick.
Ah well, 6 more months of Atom? I can manage... I've got a comfy couch ;-p

Anandtech has an update on this, AMDs situation has gotten better

While video transcoding is significantly slower on Trinity compared to Intel's Sandy Bridge on the traditional x86 path, the OpenCL version of Handbrake narrows the gap considerably. A quad-core Sandy Bridge goes from being 73% faster down to 7% faster than Trinity. Ivy Bridge on the other hand goes from being 2.15x the speed of Trinity to a smaller but still pronounced 29.6% lead. Image quality appeared to be comparable between all OpenCL outputs, although we did get higher bitrate files from the x86 transcode path. The bottom line is that AMD goes from a position of not really competitive, to easily holding its own against similarly priced Intel parts.
