Ok, I need a computer upgrade. I want to run assassins Creed Unity but am having trouble deciding on a mobo, CPU, Video Card, Ram and CPU Fan for the build. I don't think my current system will run the game. I'd like to get an Nvidia Gforce GTX 700 series video card with 2 Gigs Memory,
For Unity:
AMD fx-8350 (4.0) could do a 3.5 w overclock
RAM 6 GB (I have 3 x 2gb DDR3 1066)
8 GB recommended
Video card: AMD Radeon HD 7970/R7/ R9 series Nvidia Geforce GTX 680 / 700/ TITAN Series.

What I have Currently:
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R
CPU: Intel i7 Core 920 @ 2.67 GHz
NVidia Geforce GTX 260
Ram: DDR 3 (3 x 2GB 1066)

Would like to keep this under $500 if possible. The Video cards that are support for this game use PCI-E 3.0 my current MOBO has 2.0 or I could just upgrade the CPU and Video card for now and do a complete upgrade in 5 yrs.
Recommendations? Options?

Solution

mixing and matching ram isnt a good idea . better to get 2x8 gig matching sticks

there are plenty of options at reasonable prices in the link.
pc partpicker is also a good place to source cheap gpu's as they can shop from multiple sources so they can send you your card at the best prices. often even...

Omg, you're kidding... Did I miss that, or was it a future idea? It's totally pointless, to mix teh RAM, even from the same manufacturer (geez :)).

P.S.

^^ That's a good one, LOL! :-D

Hey Lone, you still had some good advise. I'm going to go look for some overclocking vids on youtube just to make sure I have the right things to tweek. I thought you could select more than one "solution". Guess not.... LOL :)

Hey, the system I'm currently on I built about 5 yrs ago. Since I don't play many games that take huge graphics (except for AC series) this new upgrade should do me just fine for a while. Can't wait to see what some of my other games look like with the new card and higher Resolutions. :)

No problem, as long as the issue is resolved :) Good luck to you and have fun when the parts arrive.

@nim, nope not kidding and stop trying to troll its boring and churlish...

as for the cpu it will last a few years yet (5 may be pushing it) as gaming is being led by the consoles which are only 1.6ghz parts with 8 threads so any quad at 3.0 or better will be fast enough for the foreseeable future.
