Question Assigning new boot drive and fixing partition

I cloned Windows 10 onto a new NVMe M.2. The cloned drive had two partitions (first the OS, second old files) so now the new M.2 has the two partitions, which appear as separate volumes. I deleted the second volume and went to extend (or shrink) the partition on the new drive with the cloned OS. I got a warning saying that it would make it a dynamic drive and it would no longer be able to start the OS from any volume except the current boot volume. Well I don't want the current boot volume to stay; I want it to be replaced by the OS on the new M.2 drive. I need to change the partition because Windows by itself is using a 500GB partition. When I look at the boot order in BIOS, I can only see hard disk as an option, but no way to specifically select the correct volume. How do I resolve this? Do I delete Windows from the old volume first?

There are two lists in bios one is the boot order that only select the device (so hard drive optical usb) and one where you put in the order of each, you have to put he m.2 drive as the first hard drive in the list second list.

If it doesn't have a boot partition it's still not going to boot.

You should upload a pic showing all the info from disk manager so that we can really see what exactly is going on.

Hello and thanks for taking a look at this. First, I managed to get the correct drive as the boot drive, "Vaezha". This was a guessing game as in the MSI BIOS it simply reads "Boot option" 1 or 2, for two different drives, so I set everything to option 2 and it worked, or so I gather.

What I need to do now is change the partition sizes, or delete them, without messing anything up. My goal is simply to use these drives for data, files, programs, etc, including the new C drive, which is the NVMe m.2.

Delete recovery partition. Only then you can extend C: partition.
Disk Management will not allow deleting recovery partition. You can use diskpart or Minitool Partition wizard free.

Use Minitool Partition Wizard free to delete recovery partition.

Probably you had windows upgraded from Windows 8 and description in BCD store has remained from previous version.
Execute from elevated command prompt, to change windows version description in BCD store:

bcdedit /set {current} description "Windows 10"​

Drive 0 and 2 are the drives in question. 0 was the clone source, 2 is the new NVMe SSD drive, which is successfully seen as the boot drive. Both are 1TB. Drive 0 is a Samsung 1 TB in a bay. The new SSD (Drive 2) is Samsung 980 Pro PCI 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD>

You cloned windows from old drive to new one. All previously installed software is in clone too.
There's no need to reinstall it.

It would just require changing drive letters on secondary drives to previous letters.

Although - drive letters (on secondary drives) after cloning remain the same.
So all the previously installed software should work after cloning.
