Hi all,

I'm having an issue with my rig. One of the ASSIST FAN on my Asus Sabertooth Z87 is making noise. There are 2 assist fans on the mobo, and seems noise came from the one near the I/O ports. (The other assist fan is located below the Intel Socket)

I tried to check if some wire is touching the blade, and it isnt.

No heavy dust.

Tried to reduce speed from BIOS, didnt help.

Tried to switch it with the other Assist Fan(below socket), now no loud noise from the I/O ports. Now assist fan below intel socket is making noise.

Tried to change fan speed through AI Suite 3 to Silent, noise was reduced but its still there.. There was no noise before.

1. Does that mean the fan is broken?
2. Can I replace it with a different fan with same size(35x35x10 12V)?
3.Can I turn it off, and not use it?

Thanks in advance for any input. Sorry for the looong explaination. Lol

im thinking you need both fans on, runging the same direction at the same speed cause motherboard is covered in that thermal, nonbend, "armer" and with out the air flow your voltage caps will fry.

since both of them are the same size and all before turning them off o would try swaping one fan out for another. as i do belive that due to the armor both fans are needed other wise you can by a new one and stick it on there.

these here fit your asus board

if it is the bottom on and it is just making noise then can try to either tighten or lossen the screw, could just be pulled a little off center causing it...
Thanks for the response!

The thing is, when I turn it on from a shutdown there's no noise.. After sometime, it will make that noise.. I'm thinking maybe its not broken..
