Astro A40's PC Edition Problem

I bought the Astro A40's for my PC. The PC edition does not have the mixamp. I have a problem with the boom mic. I can use the in-line mic with my PC just fine, but when I switch it to the "A" setting my computer will not pick up sound from my mic. If I plug the boom mic directly into my PC, it works. When I plug it in my headset, it doesn't. I have read that there is internal wiring problems. Is that what is broken?

I'm not sure if the stand alone headset comes the same way but the full version comes with a Y splitter, you would need to plug it in through the splitter so it connects to both the headphone jack and microphone jack. I had problems getting the mic to work even with the splitter and don't remember if I ever fixed that issue.

I contacted Astro and they said that the 3.5mm cord and the Y splitter are broken. They are sending me new cords of both
