I'm building out an Asus X99-WS/IPMI and the motherboard has provision for a 6-pin 12V ATX input power connector. After researching for a few hours, I've found this is an extremely rare connector and I can't find a single PSU that has an output cable for it. I initially thought I could use one of the many PCIe 6-pin power outputs from my PSU, but after looking at the pinouts and socket keying, it seems that PCIe 6-pin power connectors (intended for GPUs) and EATX 6-pin power connectors (for motherboards) are quite different (12V polarity is swapped?!), so there's a real chance of damage if one tries to interchange them. I've attached the documentation from Asus on the 6-pin socket on the motherboard. Anyone have any information on this or found a way to connect this up to a recent PSU using standard cabling?

Here is a link I found about the connector: ATX 6 pin 12V Power Connector Pinout

Thanks for that tip. They keying looks correct... but I notice that one of the pins is not connected. Will do some more research on that adapter. I also found this FAQ from Asus:

Seems you only need to connect that power connector if you intend to run high power GPUs. It seems that it provides extra power to the PCIe slots for GPUs to use.

1/Same question here... Just something about the kind of power for that plug EATX12V_1 on my X99 WS/IPMI
Please let me know if a 6pin pcie is the right power. The socket is not absolutely the same (square and not square) but father will go in mother, because more square halls in mother.

Have a look here, it's a bit confusing : View: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/60y5vi/substituting_6pin_atx_cable_with_62pin_pcie_cable/

2/And I have 2x 8pins for the cpu power on mob. Do I need to plug two cpu cables? Is it any better?

Hi,,, I have the same board.
Just plug in an available 6 pin PCIe video power supply cable. Do not put a 4 or 8 pin power cable in the 6 pin receptacle.
I used a volt meter to probe the pins with the PC running and found +12vDC on the 3 pin row furthest from the latch - on the board and the PCIe power cable.

Refer to the user manual, Page 1-37. (Pdf page 51).
There is a diagram there that indicates the polarity of the power connectors on this motherboard,,, and it is the same as the ubiquitous 6pin (plus2) PCIe power connectors that supply the Video card(s).
The manual should have clearly stated that the PCIe connector cable is the proper one. It does not . Shame on ASUS.
The only indication of this fact is the little nubbin on the top of the 6 pin illustration in the drawing.
