Hello everyone, this is my first post here...
I did a BIOS update on my old Asus A3A laptop. I started it from within Windows using the Asus utility, then I was asked to reboot, and the BIOS update kicked in: I saw the screen saying BIOS file validated, BIOS cleared, writing BIOS, verifying BIOS, and the message "BIOS flashed successfully!".
But there the computer stopped. I waited for a long time and nothing happened. Tried every key, Alt-Ctrl-Del, everything I could think of, and it didn't react, not even to the power button (short or long press). So I removed the battery and the power cable and it turned off. Since then, I cannot get any sign of life from this laptop: no lights, power button does nothing, with or without battery...
Anyway, I took the laptop apart and I am now looking at the motherboard, labeled Asus A3H Mainboard Rev 2.1. The CMOS battery is very hard to reach but I found it and removed it. I am still waiting for it to drain out and then I'll turn it on again - if I can! 🙂
My question is: will clearing the CMOS help at all? I believe the BIOS is a different thing. How can I reset the BIOS to revert the damage caused by the "successful" BIOS update?
Thanks in advance!
