Solution
You have options.

The update will be done through Microsoft's updater or through a downloaded ISO file.

When you upgrade to WIndows 10 you will reactivate Windows 10 with a new key. The key allows you to download an ISO that can be used for clean installs, but with a caveat: That install has to be on the same machine the upgrade was done. If you find out you don't like Windows 10 your license for your previous Windows (as it was Win 7 or Win 8.1) will still be good and you can downgrade back to the old OS. One requirement is that you not upgrade the motherboard/ processor as that classifies as a new machine but hard drives and memory don't affect the license.

I am going to wait now that you mentioned that for the simple reason the Microsoft website states that it will be able to be downloaded as an ISO for clean install and most programs haven't been updated to work with it yet. even if you cant clean install , you can upgrade first and then clean install after you have received the new key for windows 10 with can be reinstalled even after the 12 months providing the first download happens within the upgrade period.

I don't plan on upgrading motherboard or cpu(4790K @4.7) for a while unless it dies, but when I choose to in 3 to 4 years from now or If need new a new one due to a defect what will happen.

Well I read something today from Microsoft that said if you upgrade to Windows 10 you assume the Retail version is a retail version is upgraded and OEM if it was an OEM you upgraded. Retail allows you to use the same license on a new motherboard (of any type) whereis an OEM would only allow the same license if the motherboard was the same one (which happens if the OEM's replace the mobo during warranty work) .

Hey, it's close to update time, (or lie and wait to see how disasterous it is and update in a few weeks time.) and I can't help but notice that in the "Get Windows 10" app, under Check Your PC under the menu, I don't see AI Suite 3 there anymore. I only saw it the first time I reserved as an incompatible program. It was the only one on my PC.
You think it is compatible now with the newer build of windows 10?
Is it there for you, or gone as well?
Mine scanned for compatibility on 7/10/2015 apparently, so maybe we can cross our fingers and hope the upgrade doesn't create AI Suite 3 to go haywire.
Making at least 2 backup images to be safe...
Just have to make it to the desktop after the upgrade so we can create a boot drive to clean-install Win10, am I right 😉
I never trust upgrades, I'm a cleanfreak when it comes to my PC's files. Don't wanna risk some old registry entries left over from the upgrade causing corruption 6 months down the line.

I've got some horror stories from AI Suite 2 with my ol AMD 990FX pro mobo... Had to reinstall and never installed it again with that mobo. I never even had to upgrade OS's with AI suite installed, many say that caused fatal issues with tons of people from 8 to 8.1

AI Suite 3 Works perfectly with Win 10 (it was a machine upgraded from Win 8.1) as far as I can tell. I've been running it and all of the panel options seem to work with no issues at all. My win install is really complex with loads of old apps installed and Win10 running all of it. Ironically my Win 8 install I had all sorts of issues. It seems they've really tested this more than the last version. No need for a clean install to run AIS 3 at least on my unit.

Im having some real issue getting AI Suite 3 to work. First of I don't find the proper link to download a version that works for windows 10, then there will probably be some installation issues. I would greatly appreciate it to get some solid direct guidance on this. (My computer fans are going on full speed which happens by default when reinstalling windows)

Go yo your Asus Mobo's Download Site (Not sure what yours is, but here's mine for example)
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z97PRO/HelpDesk_Download/
Those pages are the only place you should be getting installations of Asus Suite 3.
You can usually find this page by either just googling your mobo's name or through searching Asus' site.

Go to your mobo's page and choose the support tab, then drivers and tools and select your OS as Windows 10 64-bit (if you have 32-bit, choose that instead)
It's under the 'Utilities' list of downloads.
Everything installed just fine for me, and my fans and etc. seem to be behaving as instructed by the Suite.
If that installtion doesn't work for you, or asus for some reason doesn't have an Asus sute 3 installtion for 10 64-bit ready yet, reply back.

Hello, thanks a lot for answering and clearing a few things up for me. This is my motherboard P8Z77-V which leads me to this https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z77V/HelpDesk_Download/

It doesn't have AI Suite 3 support it seems, and no Ai Suite support for windows 10. Is there still a chance I can get this done without buying a new motherboard?

It appears your motherboard doesn't have AI Suite 3 support, or it would have it on Windows 8.1 already
what you can do is wait for them to maybe add an AI Suite 2 update for Windows 10, but you may be able to just install the Windows 8.1 version of AI Suite 2 and see if that one works. It's worth a shot, and Windows 10 does very well with backwards compatibility in my experience so far.

I have it on my main rig. I upgraded from 8.1 to 10, but it must have never activated correctly, as I then proceeded to clean install, and now I'm stuck with Windows 10 forever giving me Error code: 0xC004C003 and with no hope for a valid key...

Microsoft themselves (the assholes) told me I'd need to reinstall 8.1, go through the upgrade all over again, activate it, then do a whole new clean install (I just spent 12 hours getting everything setting up everything again in Windows 10...) to get it to activate properly...
Yeah, I might just buy a key at this point...
Horrible system.
If you clean install, follow these instructions exactly: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3f0lcs/how_to_clean_install_100_explained_no_more/

Otherwise only a few glitches. Origin isn't ready for 10 yet, but steam sensed all of the installations on my second drive fine. Only a few artifacts and slowdowns in BF4 is all I've seen so far.

Yeah, I know. I actually updgraded from 8.1 to 10 and everything, but Microsoft must have never activated my install (their servers were very busy, I may have never been verified) so when I clean installed, Windows 10 thought and still thinks I'm a stranger.
Make 100% sure that you're properly activated, and save the upgraded windows 10 for good measure, or Microsoft will force you to jump through all of these hoops all over again...

Sadly, installing AI suite 2 Windows 8, 64 does not work on Windows 10. The model is not supported. I've been trying to come in contact with Asus Technical support, which is just impossible.. I really don't know what to do anymore.

why don't you have ai suite 3

http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_FORMULA/HelpDesk_Download/

I signed into asus.
went to my products.
put in windows 8.1 x64bit
looked under utilities and selected """"ASUS AI Suite 3 V1.00.83 Install Program for Windows 7/8/8.1 32bit & 64bit.""""

His mobo seems too old to support AI suite 3 and Asus never updated AI suite 2 for his:

Konst0, you should look at some third party in the meantime
