What happens if I have to reinstall windows(I will have no hard copy) and the compatibility checker says ASUS AI Suite 3 will NOT work....Next question is===CLEAN INSTALL, can we do that. every decent computer guy know to do a clean install...Last Question==== will we have to get windows 10 for DX12???

Solution
You have options.

The update will be done through Microsoft's updater or through a downloaded ISO file.

When you upgrade to WIndows 10 you will reactivate Windows 10 with a new key. The key allows you to download an ISO that can be used for clean installs, but with a caveat: That install has to be on the same machine the upgrade was done. If you find out you don't like Windows 10 your license for your previous Windows (as it was Win 7 or Win 8.1) will still be good and you can downgrade back to the old OS. One requirement is that you not upgrade the motherboard/ processor as that classifies as a new machine but hard drives and memory don't affect the license.

email ASUS AND WAIT WAIT WAIT🙁

Ye, I've been looking at third party programs like SpeedFan, which does not work. I haven't found many more third party programs than this. I've also been trying to force install an unsupported program by using Windows SKD Orca with no luck.

Its very difficult to contact Asus because they need so much information that isnt even relevant to the topic, secondly they rarely answer emails because of low revenue through that line of communication. A employee of Asus has made a guide on how to contact Asus (http://consumerist.com/2008/07/16/10-secrets-to-getting-better-tech-support-from-asus/). Here its stated different kind of issues with Asus support which most people would find shocking. I've been working with this kind of customer support in the past and its way to familiar.

My next step is to buy a physical Fan Controller and check if that can restrict the voltage my fans receive to reduce their speed and bypass Ai suite completely.

I have a rig with a p8z77-v LE. It accepts Asus suite 2. SpeedFan works just fine on that rig and my main, it just takes some maneuvering, especoally when it comes to startup. There you'll need to set it as a Windows task, or you'll forever get the stupid api alert asking if you want to run the program. Last time I checked SpeedFan didn't have a preprogrammed setpoint for that board, so you'll have to do it manually, which means figuring out which fan is which address etc.

Could you please explain in detail what you did to make SpeedFan work? Step by step

The fans that run high is CPU, Chassis 1, 2, and 3

Well after install, Google how to make SpeedFan a Windows task. Has easy enough directions.

As far as running, when you open SF, you'll see your fans as they are installed at the bottom. Mine are pwm1,2,3 with 1 address and pwm1,2 with a different address. These correspond for me as cpu, cpu_aux, sys1 and sys2,sys3.

For now uncheck the auto box, turn 1 fan (up/down arrows) to 100, the rest to 0 and do this for each fan, taking note as to what fan stays running and which shut down. Or conversely leave all at 100 and shut down 1 at a time. Write down which fan is what at which address.
Hit configure.
Go to fans tab, open, you'll see the fans listed. Here you can change name, set fan curves, temps etc. A curve of 100% at 70° and 40% at 30° or so is fine for cpu, but case temps, (sys2/3 for me) won't reach that so my settings are 40% at 30° and 100% at 40°.
Each case is different, fans are different, mobo addresses are different, so you'll have to play around with the settings till you dial in comfortable ones.
Turn on auto before exiting. Reboot. If you did things ok, SF will now auto start, and after windows settles down, will run at your settings, not bios.

This is of course assuming the cpu fan is pwm not 3pin, and some cpu-aux/cpu-pwr/cpu-alt/cpu-2 headers cannot be controlled by software.

I finally got SpeedFan to work on my motherboard with Windows 10. I did the configurations earlier where I searched on google how to configurate it and it didn't work. So now I just thought "Ye what the hell, lets try again, maybe I did something wrong" and now it works.

Thanks a lot for all the response from everyone in this thread. Greatly appreciated.

I have a Gryphon z97 and it seems AI Suite 3 no longer works, something I was really not expecting and kinda upset about.

Mostly upset with myself for listening to others who said if it worked on 8.1 then it will work on 10.

When the system starts up I get a bunch of errors spamming on the screen related to AI suite, so I had to uninstall it.

I use AI suite for all of my chassis fan controls and monitoring, pretty pissed off.

me too .... fan expert is da bomb
😉

I am waiting a lillte while on installing windows 10 on my rig in sig. I figure I will go on asus forum and website to look for updates in a couple of months to see if there are solutions.... BUT DID YOU DO A CLEAN INSTALL. if you did not and just did the update, you may want to try that option..... I would imagine there would be comficts with ai suite 3 and windows 10 update... os may need to be installed first then ai suite 3 most likely will install and you could run in windows 8.1 compatability mode

The way Windows is running, according to track record which started with win95 (A-C), 98 (+SE), XP (SP 1-3), 7 (SP1), 8 (8.1) , it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if inside 6-8 months, you see Win 10.1 or 10-SP1, with a butt load of fixes for the major 3rd party (partnerships etc) companies like Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Dell etc, who carry the vast majority of motherboards and motherboard software. A free OS upgrade from Windows 7 that lasts a year? Yeah. Microsoft puts out the OS and then uses the public as Guinea pigs to find all the quirks and errors. They'll test the major software like Office, Acrobat, flashplayer etc, but the rest is a number of apps simply too massive a number to consider. If Microsoft had to in-house test every single program made before OS release, we'd still be waiting for Windows 95. There's going to be bugs, quirks, crap that simply don't work right. Count on it. All you can really do is bug the piss out of the programs parent company, be it Microsoft or Asus, and wait for a fix. In the mean time, SpeedFan woks (to my knowledge anyways) as do fan controllers and/or straight up bios settings. It's a pain, it sucks, but that's Microsoft for ya.

I did the ugrade, there is no AI Suite download for my board on win 10.

I could try installing the 8.1 version now that I have 10 installed and see but my guess is they have a reason why there is no download.

maybe join their forum ask post a thread about it.. I did it once but it is old now

AI Suite 3 for windows 10 on z97 ASUS Maximus Formula VII is now available

Adding to this, I just installed a new motherboard - Contacted Windows 10 Support and had them make me a new Key. They seemed all to happy to do it as well. I did explain about installing the new mobo, Then made a point of having upgraded the box i bought second hand with more up to date gaming hardware. Just so you know! :)

good to know. thanx
