Question Asus BIOS freezes

Hi,

I just encountered a problem and hope anyone can help.

The motherboard is Asus Z390I. My system constantly freezes and the mouse/keyboard is not responsive. However, when I entered BIOS, it freezes as well, and what's more, the clock was reset to a very strange date format, the fan speed changed to 65535 rpm and CPU temperature to -1 °C!

Interesting, 65536 the largest interger for 16 bits.
Looks as if some piece of hardware has failed and is scrambling data.
Now tell us what happened? new build? lightning nearby?
Have you done any troubleshooting? tried to reset bios? can you list your components?

I plugged all components into another motherboard, then everything is fine. The bios is reset but it doesn't help. I'm not sure if this is related to CMOS battery because, if I leave it off for a long time, then the issue is gone, and it'll come back after several days. The battery is not easy to swap on this motherboard and I don't know if changing battery would ruin the warranty.

If all the components work, it may be the motherboard or power supply. MB is under warranty contact store where you purchased.
Replacing a battery should never void any warranty.
