Asus BIOS issue

Let's try both frequency and CAS; see below.

Q - What BIOS version are you running? ; (.ROM) use 1404 otherwise if you have a (.CAP) use 2105 ; after 1404 you must convert to (.CAP) and usually it requires you to re-flash (flash twice).
Q - What CPU? ; the i7 3820's are a PITA and require a BIOS update.

Well I've only seen this 48GB vs 64GB happen a couple times and 'most' of the time it's a combination of various voltages, CAS Timings and/or frequencies that can get it to work i.e. see all 64GB.

Since there are no "64Gb Corsair 8x8Gb - 1866 RAM chips.." I assume you're mixing two kits together which in and by itself is a problem. Further, I recommend DDR3-1333 with 8GB/stick density or not any higher frequencies above DDR3-1600, and 'best' is a fully matched and tested 8x8GB set. Meaning mixing two kits is no guarantees -- the problem is your RAM selection not your MOBO nor the individual kit itself.

Q - What EXACT kits? ; please provide a link to the exact kits.
Q - What, if any, changes have you made the the BIOS?
 
Correct, you are mixing (2) separate kits of CMT32GX3M4X1866C9 of which each is Rated individually at DDR3-1866 9-10-9-27 @ 1.50v, but not necessarily together in 2*(4x4GB). It's a lesser problem at more normalized Frequencies and CAS Timings e.g. DDR3-1600 CAS 9.

See what the other groups say, follow their advice and if that fails then let me know.

I would look to using both XMP and manual settings including manually setting the Frequency, CAS Timings, VCCSA, CPU VTT, PLL and DRAM Voltages and perhaps even sightly slower Frequency and CAS Timings.

Well, done it all, at least as much as I can tell...

A few times got caught out and had to factory reset, yet not once it has come to life with all 64Gb...

I guess it is a no go till a BIOS update or so....
 
Okay let's see if it's a CAS issue, try the following:

You can try to manually set the RAM:

DRAM RAS PRE -> 10
DRAM RAS ACT -> 30

Now, if you're OC'ing the CPU then there's a lot more to it including Phase control, the above assumes stock CPU settings.

Example with a CPU OC add the following:
VCCSA Load-Line Calibration -> Regular
VCCSA Current Capability -> 120%

DRAM AB Current Capability -> 120%
DRAM AB Power Phase Control -> Optimized
DRAM CD Current Capability -> 120%
DRAM CD Power Phase Control -> Optimized

Is there other areas I should be changing, going back to factory reset before over clocking?
