Ive recently tried to update my BIOS to make it compatible with my new CPU. I have tried using the AI Suite 3 to install it, ive tried using a flash drive and have also tried using internet to install it through EZ Flash 3 is my BIOS, none have worked. Whenever is use my flash drive it just says ‘selected file is not a proper bios’. I have tried using older version of the BIOS update, also used the renaming program that comes with the update. When i use internet to update it, it says that its all up to date even though my version is 5606 and the most recent is 6210.

Hardware:
-Asus Prime A320M-R
-AMD A8-9600
-Nvidia GTX 1660 Super

Looking at this reddit thread, it might be due to the CPU you are using. It appears that it is a brick protection, because bios removes support for your current CPU.

I had the same problem, just a different mother board.

It's a brick protection since the A8 9600 is no longer supported on the new BIOS update.
The easiest way to solve this is through AFUDOS.exe

Just follow this tutorial step by step using your old CPU and when it's done swap the CPU and you're good to go.

what's the model and version of your motherboard?
what instructions are you following? are you decompressing the file and using a rename app?

Model and version os now posted in
my original post. Instructions are from wikihow and a few other sites i found. I dont know if i was decompressing but i did use the rename app. (If decompressing means that i unzip the file then i did do that)

(BIOS 5862: Remove Bristol Ridge (AMD 7th Gen A-series/ Athlon™ X4 series) processors support)

Make sure you are downloading the correct bios. Asus lists so many boards, with similar names, it is easy to accidently grab the wrong bios. Also make sure you are trying to install the latest bios. Also be sure to unzip the bios file, when you put it on the USB drive.

I tried the newest version and also made sure i got it from the right model on the Asus site. I always unzip the file but never directly onto the USB, i have it in a separate folder where i unzip it and use the renaming app. I will try to unzip it directly on the USB when i get off work.

Okay so i tried it again, i made sure i got it from the right board, i installed the latest, unzipped the file on my usb and used the renaming app, all while my antivirus was disabled to avoid corruption. But the same thing happened, it again said that the selected file is not a proper BIOS .

Install CPU-Z, and run it. Go to mainboard, to make absolutely sure your motherboard model is what you think it is. That error, from what I have seen is because said bios is not for the board you are trying to use it on. For example someone trying to use the bios on board with the same base name, but one is a wifi version, and one isn't.

I already have CPU-Z installed to make sure what motherboard i had.
The only thing i cant think of is that maybe i get the BIOS file from the wrong place. Because i cant find it when i look for the exact model from the download center, but i can find it when i just look up ‘asus prime a320m-r bios’. When i search for it directly from the search bar i find the right page but i cant find the page otherwise. I dont know if that is useful info.
