Asus CM1740 RAM upgrade

I just got a Asus CM1740 and I want to add some more ram to it. I've been looking online for informations but since I don't know much about computers I thought I should ask somebody who knows.

Is Kingston RAM DIMM 4GB DDR3 1333MHz compatible?
Should I get 2 ram things of 4gb?
Will it void the warranty upgrading the ram?

This is a desktop, right? Of course you can upgrade the ram!

Few things to note:

1) Do you game on this computer? If so, you want the fastest (Mhz wise) ram you can afford.

2) It will absolutely not void the warranty, as long as you keep the old ram around and swap it back in should a problem occur and you send the machine in

3) That brings me to this: Don't add to what you have - it could cause issues. Just buy new ram, totaling 8GB - either buy two 4GB sticks, or a set that has them as one item.

As for compatibility, pretty much any DDR3 ram will be, yes.

Is there an exception to changing the ram or is it because they wouldn't be able to tell the ram had been switched before if I put the original ram sticks back?

You don't want to just buy a stick of 8GB.

The reason for this is twofold: one, because two sticks can run in dual-channel mode, which is significantly faster, and two, because 8GB is enough to simultaneously run battlefield 3, photoshop, and 30 tabs in chrome.

As for the warranty, there's no way they could tell if you've been using different ram if you put the original sticks back - that's also just a clause to cover their rear end, mostly in the case of, say, someone trying to "fix" the motherboard with a soldering iron or something like that.

ASUS CM1740 supports a max memory of 16GB. It has 4 slots and max per slot is 4GB.

1. Yes, Kingston 4GB DDR3 1333MHz DIMM is compatible.
2. Yes, as mentioned in the previous posts installing in pairs is better than the installing a single module. You can make use of the dual channel when installed in matching pairs.
3. No, it will not void of your system.

Just sayin....they *can* check if you've swapped out hardware before - your computer makes a log of any hardware changes. just be careful
