If you look at the shells, you can see that it's a bit lifted from the heatsink fins, but angled so that the air will flow towards them. Don't look at the exterior design, that's just for looks. Look at the air flow produced by the fan then directed towards the fins at angle. This is probably where the better cooling comes from.

The looks is just for show. If you like cars, this might be for you. It's pretty cool.

[citation][nom]doomtomb[/nom]Lol. I like thisI wonder how they make their fan "dust proof"[/citation]

By making sure the dust will not stick to the surface. If you get rid of the molding edge, make the surfaces smoother, coat the surfaces of the fins and fan with a product that will not let the dust cling to it.

See, it's not so silly after all.

Ok. I just want some numbers that prove this design really does what it is supposed to do. If it works I could care less what it looks like. Not like the computer fashion police going to so up and give my a ticket for not having the coolest looking card.

When I was little (10, maybe 12) I used to be so disappointed that all the coolest product boxes at the computer show with jets and race cars and crap printed on them were not actually games or toys, but were in fact video cards (probably with 2mb cache or so on board, at the time). I used to wish the video card would at least look like what was on the box.

...I take it back. I don't like these at all...
