I've tried resetting the CMOS a few times before and haven't got anywhere with that.

Unfortunately this is the only computer in my house, so i can't test the PCI slot. I really hope that it's not the PCI slot though as I only just bought this and it set me back a little more than what I wanted to initially spend.

OK, did u took the battery out in the end too?

You know, there is couple of different ways to do it, but only couple is the right way.

I'm not sure where the battery is... how do i remove that?

I tried resetting the CMOS again and all it succeeded in doing was malfunctioning my mouse and keyboard drivers which i just had to re-install... :|

The dvd is for vista, i can run it through compatability mode but it doesn't give me the option to install the audio drivers. I've been using the ones of the asus website for windows 7 64bit. I've also tried multiple others but they all give the same error.

Its the detection of the sound card that i need. I'll try the CMOS battery now.

I've already tried the latest driver.

It doesn't matter what driver I try they all respond with the same error as the sound card can't even be detected.

I removed the CMOS battery and all it's done is mess up my comput further, I can no longer sign in to this website so am having to reply via my phone!

I'll get a taxi tomorrow to the nearest repair shop and see if they can find out what's wrong with it... Thanks for your help, I'm totally stumped as to why its not working.
