TLDR: Asus FX503VM laptop, keyboard stops working (even during bootup) possibly after flashing a new BIOS version. Tried reinstalling keyboard driver in Device Manager, didn't work. Mouse pad still works, but weirdly, F7 and right arrow keys still work but act like the Power button, putting my laptop to sleep when pressed.

Hello! I have an Asus FX503VM laptop, the one with i5-7300HQ cpu and GTX 1060 3GB gpu. It worked for two years already, and now I want to pass it on to my brother. So I've recently formatted the hard drive and installed Windows. I've also installed the drivers and software from Asus support, including flashing a new BIOS update using Asus' WinFlash.

It was all working fine, until recently when I restarted it and the keyboard stops working. The backlight for the keyboard still works, but the keyboard doesn't register any presses, even during boot up to go into BIOS. The mouse pad still works. Weirdly enough, only the F7 and right arrow key works, but they both act like the power button, since they put my laptop to sleep when I press it. I figured flashing an older version of the BIOS (version 310, most recent is 311) would fix it but it didn't. Before I first flashed the BIOS, I remember the BIOS version was older than these two, but I can't remember which one it is.

I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the HID Keyboard Device in Device Manager, to no avail. I've also opened up the back panel and nothing seems to be wrong with what I think is the keyboard ribbon. This was the first time I've fully opened the back too. I really don't know what else to try to fix the keyboard. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Edit: It seems even the minus button below F8 acts like the power button. I'm really confused why it's doing this.

Solution
Did you disconnect and reconnct the ribbon cable on the connector ? Look near that area for liquid damage corrosion near the area . Test with external usb keyboard, if that gives issues on keys might be deeper problem.
