Asus G751JL shuts down while gaming

Hello I purchased a asus laptop from someone and it keeps shutting down when. I try to play a game. Re-sinked it and blew out the dust which there was hardly any and factory reset to Windows 8.1 and downloaded all the recent drivers from asus.com still shutting down. Laptop is always on a hard surface including on a cooling pad. Thought it was the bios and installed the latest on the site as well. The only time the laptop would work is when it's on my a/c vent then I can play games that I've tried and works great. Downloaded MSI afterburner to check gpu and notebook fan speed to check cpu Temps and they are at 35-50 it shuts off at 55 around there but laptop like asus should be able to go higher Temps when gaming. Please help I just spent a lot of money on the laptop and it's only 1 year old saying on the Box retail.

Try keeping your laptop plugged in and see if it still shuts down. If it doesn't, then it is most likely a defective battery.

Hello, I just recently purchased a Asus G751JL laptop from someone and they factory reset the laptop and installed windows 10 on it. When I un-boxed the item I turned it one and it ran for a bit and then shuts off when I try to play a game. So then I factory reset it again and now has windows 8.1 on it leaving it at windows 8.1 downloaded all the recent drives off of asus.com including doing the bios flash drive with the latest download. Still the computer would shut down when I play a game for like 5 mins. Took the laptop apart had barley any dust also re-pasted the heatsink cpu and gpu with artic silver 5 thermal compound grain sized of how to put on because (I used to fix rrod on Xbox's). Put it back together and still shuts off the temp readings are around 30-50 I try running a game and it reads around up to 60 on the cpu the gpu on the other hand is I think the same since the app that I downloaded for fan speeds that were at 100%. I felt underneath the laptop and it wasn't really hot or the back of the air vents. It would shutoff when Im trying to play a game and then after awhile it would turn back on.
Could it be my bios? Or why there's a low turn off temp or something with the software? I use a targus cooling pad and it didn't seem to help also I tried putting my laptop on a air vent in my house and the game runs fine to test which ran league of legends fine and other games. My fans are running I've checked when I had the laptop taken apart with the keyboard out a little but idk it feels like my fans aren't pushing high speeds at all doing research on when people's air vents would make loud noises for it being at max speed mine is quiet. Any help would be fine please help!

I tried it with it plugged in and even with the battery disconnected and plugged in. But I think it was a heat sink problem Ivery sent the laptop back and got a refund buying a brand new new asus g752
