Hi all,

I've got an Asus GTX 1080 Ti, and it comes with GPU Tweak 2.

I've used it to create a custom profile, it's basically the same one than the default Overclock profile but I've tweaked the fans curve for the external fans plugged directly to the GPU.

So my GPU Boost clock is set on 1708 MHz instead of 1683 MHz and my Memory Clock is set on 11100 MHz instead of 11010 MHz.
Everything works just fine.

But I noticed that my GPU clock goes up to 1900+ MHz when I'm gaming.

Can someone tell me if this is normal ? And if it's fine to leave it as it is ?
And also explain why it goes above the defined setting ?

Thank you folks, and please excuse my newbie questions :)

Yeah that is your GPU boost. Mine jumps up to 2050mhz myself on two gtx 1080s with a boost speed on 1923mhz. Your maz boost is always higher then the rated boost speed on Nvidia cards. So yes it is fine and normal as long as temps are good leave it...heck shoot for more OC if you can.

Thank you for your quick and clear answer mate.
Could you tell me if the same thing applies for a CPU overclock ? If I get my clock speed and voltage just right, would any of them go higher than what's I've set ?

I might go for higher GPU OC in the future, but I do not really need it right now, that GPU is a damn beast lol

So I should disable my CPU's turbo mode when overclocking it ?

I'm planning to use AI Suite 3 (5 ways optimization) and set the maximum voltage to something like 1.250~1.275V so I can get just a slight OC as I don't it a big one (intel core i7 7700K) and I heard AI Suite might be a little bit heavy on voltage increase.

I'm wondering if the automatic OC would turn off turbo mode by itself.

You'll get a better OC using a bios based OC with a lower voltage. I am not a fan of OCing suites. I prefer a good walk-through for my set-up (mobo and CPU). As for the turning off the turbo in a suite I do not know as I avoid them. When OCing yourself it is easy to leave turbo on or off in bios. It is just harder finding your sweet spot with turbo enable. I prefer a max OC on all cores/threads within a certain voltage and thermal envelope. Usually less then 70C and under 1.3V.

I'm not looking for a perfect OC for now, as I don't need it. So I'm trying to avoid the whole tweak the BIOS for hours in order to find the perfect spot for maxed out OC. That's why I'm gonna go with AI Suite and a small and easy OC for now.
When I'll feel like going bigger, I'll defo go through the BIOS as it is advised by pretty much everyone for best performance.

Thank you very much for your answers mate, hope you have a great day !
