ASUS GPU Tweak II autostart fails after hybrid boot

Hi there

I have a huge problem with the newest version of ASUS GPU Tweak II:

Issue:
I'm using the GPU Tweak II 1.3.9.7 version. And here it seems to be extremely weird:

- It starts automatically when I do a normal boot f.e. after a reboot (new start / cycle directly out of windows).
- when Windows 10 does the hybrid boot after a shutdown - then GPU Tweak II will not start at logon. I have to start it manually.
- Also no Autostart of ASUS GPU Tweak II when just logoff/logon to windows
- When I put a LNK in the Autostart folder it doesn't work
- When I put a LNK in the Autostart folder with the goal -> C:\Windows\System32\runas.exe /user:BOOM-ONE\microsoft@opec.ch "C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\GPU TweakII\GPUTweakII.exe" -> then it tries to start (of course it asks the password - but this was only a test)

Is this because of the UAC or something else?

If it were a permissions thing or drivers, it would happen on both restart and fresh start. It is like the list of things it loads at start is wrong

I don't know enough about windows and how it starts the two different ways to know what the difference is.

an easy solution is turn off fast startup but that doesn't get to the root causes, just bypasses it. If you have an ssd you may not notice any difference turning it off except faster shutdowns: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4189-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-10-a.html

If you do turn off fast startup, you might want to delete the hiberfil.sys as it could maybe contain the list of programs that win 10 should load at startup: https://www.techsupportall.com/hiberfil-sys-file-delete-windows-10/

Hybred shutdown uses the hiberfil.sys to store all the files it needs to load again at launch.

Thx for your answer - at this moment I still don't know why this happens. I went back to an older version and this has no such problems. Maybe it is related to "run as admin", but I'm not sure. I once could also reproduce the same thing with the older version, but I'm still not sure if this was because of the "run as admin". After a normal start with my user the effect was gone. At the moment the older version seems to run as expected and I will let it be like this for the moment, even if I'm curious...
But even if it is the software itself - the question why it recognizes a fast boot or a logoff/logon as different to a normal boot would be very interesting.

Could it be, that on the normal boot there are different rights or that it loads from "deeper" than on the fast boot or logoff/logon? (I know how this sounds but it would be very interesting)

Just stay on old version unless you have to upgrade. I haven't bothered changing it since the post you originally referred to. I haven't run it for 6 months so that could be why. I only ever use it to set its fan to a minimum speed% of 40 so its always on, helps cool PC in summer.

Fast boot can cause startup programs to misbehave, i have read about it with other programs. It might be why my anti virus program isn't in the startup list anymore but loads some other way at start.
