Hi,

So I'm having a strange wifi problem with my 5G signal with the Asus GT-AC2900 router. For some reason only the normal 2.4Ghz signal works fine. But the 5G keeps crashing if I were to do a simple speed test or download a file thats like over 50mb. As for the wifi adapter I'm using for my desktop it is a ASUS USB-AC68 adapter.

Basically if I'm connected to the 5G signal and 5G signal crashes after a few minutes the 5G signal name completely disappears from my available wifi network list on windows 10 or on my iphone or ipad. But the normal 2.4GHz signal works fine. Keep in mind I do have another desktop that is directly connected to the router via a Ethernet cable and it never loses connection. This is my first time buying a third party router and so I was hoping atleast with the default settings everything should work fine but I'm guess I will need to do some adjustments to the settings for it to work. Anybody have any experience with this router and can help me out?

What do you do to get it to come back on.

This sounds like a bad radio chip. You can see if there is newer firmware for the router. There could be a software bug but it acts more like a hardware issue. If the router is still under warranty asus is pretty good about replacing stuff.
