ASUS GTX 1080 Strix or EVGA GTX 1080 FTW?

Hello, i am wondering if i should buy the ASUS GTX 1080 or the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW as stated above. What are the differences between them and which of them is overall better?

"Strix" and "FTW" are ASUS and EVGA's higher end cards respectively.

They're binned better than some other options they have.

The Strix is a base of 1.61 and boost of 1.73GHz, with the FTW base 1.72 and 1.86GHz boost.

On that alone, the FTW is "faster"..... but in real world performance, I wouldn't expect many substantial FPS gains.



Availability is limited on some of those cards..... and you're looking at $600-$650 range for them currently.

Considering that, another (potential) option for consideration would be a 1080TI FE which is $700 and can actually be purchased at that MSRP.

While it's a reference design and will likely run a little warmer, it's a stronger card overall.

1080 is a 1080. Cooling differs between cards, as well as the quality lottery (factory tested for better quality) thereby determining how far you can overclock and so on.
That being said I've heard very good things about asus strix here:

but it was also considerably more expensive. Ultimately both will be good, just go for what you can budget in.

Honestly, both are very good cards. No one will see any noticeable difference between the two while gaming. Buy whichever is cheapest and enjoy.

Yeah i have been thinking about a 1080 ti but its just so damn expensive here in Norway (Around 900-1000 dollars).So i think that i have to go for a 1080.

Unless you are in a big hurry, you may want to wait a month till RX Vega releases. The new competition to the high end GPU market will bring down the prices.

It all comes down to preference, cooling, and aesthetics. The performance you will get having one or the other is pretty much head to head.
