It does take three slots but the benefit you get is the best cooling on the market which allows for higher OCs. Also, that 570 will not scream like the others when under load.

SLI is difficult but not impossible depending on your slot placement.

Review of two asus direct cu ii 580's sli'ed:

You can see that even when sli'ed it remains cool and the noise is low.

The motherboard used in that review is not the one the OP mentioned.

1) Yes, it takes three slots. Just look at the photos.

2) On the selected motherboard, the pci-e slots are sufficiently separated to fit a second similar card.

3) As mousemonkey said, the top card will run hot in a sli configuration.

Why did you pick that particular card?
I presume it was because of the better cooling, and not for the performance; there are other cards which perform a bit better for a lower price.

How likely is it that you will want a graphics upgrade?

Soon, within 4-6 months, or later?

If you will upgrade soon, it might be better to get a GTX580 or GTX590 now and be done with it.

If you will upgrade after 6 months, kepler and southern islands will be here with 28nm cards.
They will run cooler, faster, and be cheaper to make. It is likely that one of them will be your upgrade at that time.

probably upgrade when i feel the one gpu will be a bottleneck which probably wont be soon so like a year. I choose the card because of the cooling and I heard it has good oc potential
