Like i stated in the title I have problem with my computer. I already found a solution or better said i had a solution, because i had a problem with my Asus GTX 770 and found an easy way to fix this problem with just changing some data on my PC. I got a new OS, deleted all the things i had and now it's crashing again. It's not the same kind of crashing stated in most of the other threads: they say their screen is black and they still hear some random noises, that was my problem before. Now my PC just shuts itself down during games or randomly after i close the game and i really dont have any clue what the problem could be. Im not able to find the fix for the graphics card that i found back then so i cant tell if it isnt the same error. Sometimes it feels like my pc is overheating but about 60-70 degrees for a cpu is normal right? If my CPU is downclocked (but still not a stable core speed, i set it to 3.8 ghz and cpu-z is showing me about 4.015 ghz probably amd core boost?) it seems like its not crashing that often even tough it wasnt a problem after i found the fix for my GTX 770. Everything ran fine. Im posting my hardware that its easier to determine what's the problem or wheter the problem is the hardware itself or not. I didnt have this problem with my somehow odd old grapics card (POV GTX 560 3GB GDDR3). I would be so happy if i could play normally.

Mainboard: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+
Cpu: AMD Fx 8350 @ 4.2 gHz (standard cooler)
Graphics Card: Asus GTX 770 DirectCU 2 OC 2GB GDDR5
Power Adaptor: Pure Power; BeQuiet; 730 watt; 80Plus (I dont know the exact name)
RAM: Kingston HyperX 8GB 1600mHz running stable @ about 1099mHz
HDD: some random 500GB HDD

Thanks in Advance

Solution

well, your pc will bear the hear for a certial limit and then give up.... the best and permanent solution is to add case fans and opt a liquid cooler for your AMD Fx 8350.. your pc will be thankful for not cooking it to death
~61C is the maximum temperature, as per the AMD website for your cpu. Doesn't mean things will kerplode when you pass that point, but lifespan will considerably degrade at that point.

I would seriously look at an aftermarket cooler for your cpu. I would also look at a different PSU, while the unit had good reviews for a standard user it seems the power starts to move around once you start to stress it with overclocks and high power draws.

well there could be two reasons, depending on how your motherboard is set up if the cpu gets to hot I should shut the computer down to try and save the cpu from hurting itself.

The power supply could be the issue as well, you say when the 560 is installed you don't have issues. The 770 will pull more power from the PSU which is kind of making me lean towards the PSU not being able to supply enough power, or could be jumping out of voltage tolerances.

Well that sounds like a thing because my USB-Ports get hot as hell, the little metal thing that you put on the backside of your computer for the different ports that come with the mainbaord if you know what i mean. But if thats my Problem how could i be able to play on ultra settings (while graphics card is on the maximum) with this fix i found earlier and is there a way to decrease my temperature with settings?

That makes sense but why didnt i have any problems with this fix i had? For example Splinter Cell Blacklist: couldnt play the game longer than 10 minutes. After i found the fix there were no problems at all. Without the fix my PC crashed while the GPU was at about 50-60 degrees. After i found the my card went up to 60-70 degrees without problems or crashes. Sorry to bother you so much with questions but im really clueless about this problem :/

may i know what fix are you talking abt... ?

something i found on the internet where someone stated that the ASUS GTX 770 has some kind of problem with the software because of a mistake made by ASUS or something like that and i just had to install or replace a data im really not sure what it was but if i am able to find that again and it helps im going to post it here so that you can show this to other people who need help with this problem.

a link to that post would be very insightful

I tried to lower my temperaturesto the lowest i could, downclocked my CPU to 3.6 gHz and left my tower open for higher air circulation. My PC didnt shut itself off until now i'll try to run something CPU demanding and if it crahses again i'll get a new cooler and tell you wheter it worked or not.

run prime95 it is very cpu demanding

I downloaded Prime95 and did the test for 7 hours. My PC didnt shut itself off and everything seems fine.
The CPU was clocked @ 3.6 gHz, the maximum power it needed was 60W that , and went up to about 68°C.

great, you have a stable system... get a proper cooler for your cpu.. a coolermaster hyper 212 evo is a great cooler

I just tried it on 3.6gHz CPU clock tough and not at stanard 4.0gHz. Should i first try that?

nope, get a good air/water cooler, then try

okey im gonna buy a new cooler and i will try Prime95 on 4 gHz then. Im leaving this thread open just in case i need help.
thanks for the help until now and i'll tell you if that solved my problem then!

ok then :)

ok i got the Alpenföhn Brocken now and i am at about 40-50° C. It's so quiet runs perfectly, but my real problem was the BIOS settings, something wasn't right with the voltage. Still, i want to thank you guys for helping me out 😀
