I have an Asus GTX 960 gpu. its great, i can play my games well, but then a problem occurs during my gaming. My system alarm goes off, no sequence just sort of a long beep, sometimes it will flicker. i had gpu tweak open and monitored everything while i was playing. everything was fine, but my system alarm goes off still. i believe it may be because my bios is detecting a much higher amount of voltage through the gpu. i upgraded from 350W to 750W psu, any suggestions on what the problem may be? and if so, how to fix?

GPU: GEFORCE GTX 960
CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3450 CPU @3.10GHz
Memory: 16.00 GB RAM
Current resolution: 1920x1080, 60Hz
Driver version (nvidia drivers): 355.82
OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1
64-Bit OS
Motherboard: Gigabyte B75M-D3H
PSU: Sentey Metal Blade 750W

Did it do this with both psu's? Now I have never heard of senty power supplies and that is never a good thing, it is very cheap for a 750watt unit so im guessing it is of very low quality and it could be the cause of your problem. Check event viewer in the system log and see if an error was recorded when your system alarm went off.

i never tried the other psu, the wattage was too low for the gpus requirements
and here is the psu im using right now http://www.amazon.com/Sentey%C2%AE-Power-Supply-750w-Bronze/dp/B00I3NUDVC

more than likely it is the psu

most Sentey units are bottom tier

for a gaming system you need a tier 1 or 2 unit from this list:

Then Im going to have to blame this on the psu. Your psu is 60 dollars this is how much a good 750watt unit costs: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Crossfire-Warranty-220-G2-0750-XR/dp/B00IKDETOW

You would have been much better off just getting a decent 550watt unit which you could get for around 60 bucks so if there is anyway you can get your money back for that psu I would, then buy an xfx 550 or something.

What 350watt psu do you have you may be better off running that, 350watts should be enough for a 960 if its a decent psu.

the gpus wttage is a minimum of 400w, my old psu is 350 w and doesnt have a 6 pin connector, which the gpu requires

Nvidia says its min wattage is 400watts but they only say that in case people go out and buy cheap psu's that wont do their rated wattage. Your system will only consume roughly 286watts under load (if you dont believe me find a psu calculator and plug in your system specs i like outervision) so 350watts is enough if you had a pcie express connector.

Then I dont really know what to tell you sorry to say. Like I said this is probably a power problem and since you have a poor psu thats what im going to blame for your issue, I would try to get your money back and buy a decent 550watt psu.
