Asus GTX970 Strix OC Fans

I've looked through basically all of the questions that are similar to mine. They are saying "The fans kick on at 60C" which is normal. My problem is slightly different, not so much concerned about the fans not turning on, but the fact that when i launch a game without manually turning the fans on, its super laggy and i cannot do anything. But once i manually turn the fans on with asus GPU tweak, everything goes back to being smooth and running nicely

The profile that is included is mostly for quiet performance. I would suggest creating a custom fan curve using the Asus GPU Tweak utility to help with your issue, you can have the fan kick in sooner so the GPU can kick itself to its maximum clock speed.

Are you familiar with the Asus GPU tweak? The only thing i have done with it so far is set the fan speed manually every time my computer boots up. The auto setting does nothing for me

I am not as I have never really needed to tweak my fan profile, most I ever do is overclock a bit.

I would look through that. Remember Auto is the default settings for the GPU where the BIOS and drivers control the fan speed. You want to set the fan speed curve manually instead.
