ASUS H110M-E/M.2 M.2 boot support

I have an ASUS H110M-E/M.2 motherboard. I have updated to the latest BIOS and am running an i7-7700 with a GTX 1060. My hard drive is too slow for my liking. Can I boot off of an M.2 SSD on this board? Will the SSD have to be SATA or PCIe?

This means that I can use an Intel 760p M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 drive, right? (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167446&cm_re=intel_760p-_-20-167-446-_-Product) This is the exact drive I want. Also, will it use PCIe lanes from my CPU or chipset?

Yes, you can use Intel 760p.
Though Samsung 960 evo and Samsung PM961 is better.

M.2 port uses pcie lanes from chipset. To use cpu pcie lanes, you'd have to install pcie m.2 adapter.

Which is your recommendation? Should I save money and go with chipset PCIe? Or should I buy the adapter?

In benchmarks - yes, there would be some difference. In real life scenarios - definitely not.
