[SOLVED] Asus H170 pro gaming with i5 6600 doesn't boot after inactive for 6 months

hi guys, my 2 year old machine (built with passion) was kept idle for almost 6 months and when I tried to start it now it doesn't boot.. no beeps no codes ... no flashes..on the screen (just remains blank).
specs are as below.
mother board : Asus H 170 Pro Gaming
CPU : i5 6600 skylake
RAM : team 2 sticks of DDR 4 4GB each installed in alternate slots.
GPU : MSI gtx 960 2GB Tiger edition.
PSU : 600 watts Enermax Maxpro 80 +
crucial 240 GB SSD and Kingfast 256 GB SSD.
I have replaced the motherboard battery with a new one. have reset all the connections, tried with and without GPU, remove and reinstall the processor. reinstall memory modules. but no success.
all the lights on the motherboard functions normal. GPU fans CPU fan, DVD lights, kicks off immediately as soon as I push the start button and remains stable. but no signs of life on the screen. 🙁
I have tried connecting through VGA Cable as well as HDMI cable but still same. no issue with monitor as I tried on 2 different ones.

is my motherboard dead ?

please help....

If you want to verify for yourself that it is likely the motherboard, do an in-case breadboard routine.
Disconnect everything from the board except for the CPU/cooler, RAM, PSU, monitor (to iGPU, no gfx card).
Don't leave any drives, fans, etc connected to the PSU or motherboard. Disconnect the case's FP wiring from the board.

Then start the board by momentarily shorting the two pins that the start button would connect to. See if the board starts and you get a display. If not, it is likely the board or the PSU. If you have a 2nd PSU to test with, trying it would eliminate one of those as being the culprit.

Enermax have never been know for great PSUs, but that one looks pretty decent by the specs.


 
surprisingly my 12 year old one a core 2 duo on a intel motherboard works just fine....
both were shipped together... looks like it's the Asus mobo... however will get it checked before replacing.
