Anyone having a problem installing Windows 7 Home Premium x64 with the Bios set to Raid and the Raid1 volume created in the following Bios?
When I try to install Windows 7 HomePre. Windows sees the single drive but warns me it wont boot due to hardware incompatibility... 97% gets installed but just before the desktop appears, I get get a fatal error message hardware not compatible message.
I tried installing Asus H97 Raid drivers at the initial install of Win 7 but no go.
I tried a few new Intel Raid drivers as well but no go.... in total I spent 7 hours trying to get it to work...
Windows 7 installs just fine as a regular AHCI mode ( non-raid mode ) meaning nothing is corrupt ...
Both drives are identical Seagate 1TB ea.
I followed the inst. to a T and called Asus support but they basically tell me what I have already tried ....that is ...using the latest Intel Raid drivers but I have not been successful...
Someone caught my attention when that person said " Not all versions of Windows 7 ( especially Home Premium ) supports Raid - but I don't know if that is for 'Software Raid' and not Hardware Raid ....
Asus says if none of the new drivers work, they they will RMA the brand new board ( purchased June 2015 )

that is the problem...during the install, I will try to load Raid drivers that Windows ask for. A few drivers Windows accept but fail to work.
In the same manner - at the early stage of Windows install, I tried a variety of Raid drivers but none allow windows to complete the install.
BTW, Windows HP does not have the software Raid or functionality on the disk. Pro, Ultimate, Enterprise may have it on the disk.
the other problem is that when you set SATA to RAID - you inadvertently DESTROY the data on either of the disk at the time you need to 'create' the drives needed ( the array disk dirves) when you enter the Create / Delete RAID arrays ( after changing SATA ---> RAID) . If it did not destroy the data then possibly I could install Win 7 in the usual SATA way and then create the hardware RAID but physically, that is not possible

That's why you create an image of the drive that you will restore it on the RAID volume.

so when I go back and after I set SATA to RAID and create the volumes, How to restore or put an image on the drives if I don't have any OS on the drives?
Do I use Windows Repair tool to do that?

basically: install Win 7 usual way > run the MS fix-it > make an image of the OS > set SaTA to RAID > run the Windows recovery / repair disk load image at the prompt window when it asks you where is the image or partition or disk etc.. Point it to the image file ( USB flash drive I assume?)

Am I better off getting a RAID card and then setting up the mobo's bios to normal ( AHCI). Will that circumnavigate the problem or will windows see the exact same problem as described at the top of the page...Otherwise, like you mentioned, I'll have to find the 3rd party Image maker Acronis to do the image
