ASUS M2A-VM compatibility

Hi there, i was wondering what cpu would work with this mobo. I'm looking to upgrade to something better.

My current specs are:

Asustek M2A-VM

AMD Athlon 64x2 6000+ 3.0Ghz

Sapphire HD 5570 (getting a new gpu soon)

5 gb DDR2 RAM

550w psu

I'm looking along the lines of something quad core. Appreciate your time!

I think i posed in the wrong place -.- But it supports AM3 with bios update i figured that you guys here might be best

Looks like best option is the 945? I found a couple sites that still have them. You don't think ill suffer any performance from using this board?
