Hello.

OS: Ubuntu Mate 15.04

My build is:
M4A88T-M
XFX R7 250X-CGFR
Phenom Ii X4 955 BE
12 GB Ram
Antec Earthwatts 500w 80 + bronze
some random drives

My issue is that I have a 250X and putting it in the X16 slot, with power, on boot there is no post. I have replaced the card to get the same thing and when I use a 9800 GT the machine posts every single time. It's like the mobo cannot detect the graphics card and when I use the onboard graphics and look at the graphics available in a terminal all I get is the onboard 4250. I do streaming and some video editing with this rig for my youtube channel and I don't mind if it has to render over night.

The other side of the coin is that SOMETIMES (about 1/80 boots) the thing is detected and it works perfectly as it should. I find this odd.

I have reset bios, changed the GPU detection settings in bios, reflashed bios, changed PCIE power plugs, as I said earlier I got a complete replacement (which is going back as it had the same issues), and Ihave even swapped out monitor cables.

Someone please help me!

Hello,

Unfortunately, this doesn't look like an easy fix. it could be a faulty GPU. Intermittent post issues like this are really strange. I don't believe its a UEFI issue because i doubt your mobo has uefi built in.

Did you try this 250x in a different computer?

XFX Support

I have and I have gotten a complete replacement. Also this is a Bios motherboard I believe, mostly because my install does not have a UEFI partition and the bios has nothing about UEFI. It also does not have mouse support.

My main question that no one answers is does it matter if it is a UEFI or BIOS motherboard when the GPU is UEFI "ready"
