Hello,

I've bought Asus m5a97 evo r2.0 motherboard and amd fx-8320 CPU to upgrade my PC. Other components are old and Im waiting for my next paycheck to replace those.
When I hook everything up and try to power it on, I get lot of noise from video card fan (HD 4890) , which is at 100% and a red CPU led on motherboard. RAM is old as well, but its 1333mhz noname DDR3. I've tried all those steps in "PERFORM THESE STEPS before posting about POST/boot/no video problems!" thread. Also, I tried removing video card and trying to boot without it, got same result - Red CPU led.
Maybe it has something to do with my PSU ? I have 500W chieftec PSU which may lack some juice.

After reassembling my pc with my old motherboard and CPU, I got it to boot up and it's working perfectly.

Help please 🙁

The red CPU led means that the board can't "see" the CPU. Try taking the board out of the case, reseat the CPU, install the stock CPU fan, connect both 24 and 8 pin power cables and start the board (outside the case - put it on its box). See if still red CPU led.

I have Cooler Master Hyper 212evo for cooling, and unlike video cardS fan, it runs quietly. As Im working for next couple of days, I can try that stuff on monday.
I did put bit more thermal paste than stock CPU cooler has, can that be the reason ?
Or maybe the bios doesn't support fx-8320 out of the box ?

Finally got some time for another attempt, but after assembling it, it still failed to boot. As I needed new PSU anyway, I went ahead and bought 750W Chieftec and got it to boot up on my first attempt. Seems to be working perfectly now.

Thanks for your time and trouble :)
