I can actually buy one of these monsters. For only 1227 euros... It even says that they deliver in 24 hours. It also says that only 1000 of these things were ever produced.

The question is, why would I want to buy a DX10 card at that price, when 2x5870 will perform much better and cost much less?

By the way, that is a very legitimate Greek website, probably our newegg (sort of).

The reason they r selling it at higher price is its a limited edition model....no other manufacturer produces any thing like it....this card overshadows any card in nvidia's current line-up.......there is no reason to buy it unless ur a hardcore nvidia fan, u want have the feeling that u r one among the selected few in the world to own.....if u are a logical person ur better off buyin 2x5870.....

actually the 5850s exchange blows with the 285 GTX and are very similar in performance. Their advantage is dx 11. Although I agree with a your purchase statement, that the 5850s are a way better purchase, please don't over sell a card.

Ppl need to tone down their word. I even hear ppl saying that the 295 GTX is way faster than the 4870 X2, which is not. Its just faster.

Get from the 5000 series, forget about the 200s their are a soon to be discontinued series (although I believe they are already).

Yeah, I wasn't thinking of buying it to be honest. It's just that I looked at that price and I had to share it with you guys, just to see what you would say.

I am leaning towards the 5850 to be honest. Crossfire mobo and one of these and another in a year and I am good to go!

Maybe consider buying 1 5870 for now and adding a second one when more demanding games are out and prices are low (should come with the fermi launch and when Tsmc will finally be able to produce enough chips)

You know if that came from someone else I would call you a nVidia fanboy, but I know your not so you are probably just confused. 5850 is far faster than GTX 285.

Yeah, that Mars card is the fastest single card there is, at least until the 5800X2 (I guess now the 5900) cards are released. If your only gonna get one MARS card, then you are better off just going with two 5870s or two 5850s. If you are gonna get two MARS cards, then not only are you loaded but you will certainly have a blazing fast configuration. Of course then you'll feel like a dork next month when you find out that two 5900 cards are faster and way cheaper than two of those MARS cards .

Hahaha...I am not interested in a MARS card (I am more interested in a mars bar, right now, but that's not the point). I was just amazed by its price, which is beyond reason, especially considering the dx11 features it lacks. I was in the market for a card and stumbled upon that one.

A 5850 is as high as I will go, for now (we'll see, I can still wait quite a bit, unless Dragon Age performs horribly on my rig), I'll even consider a 5770, even though that's not much of an upgrade against my trustworthy 4850, especially since I am playing at 1440x900 and the monitor is the last thing I will go.

I know I know a 5850 is overkill at that resolution, but in two years it won't be.
